Shortage Of Skilled Artisans, Craftsmen Worrisome – FG

The federal government has portrayed as troubling the present lack of skilled artisans and specialists in the building development industry in the country.

In a message at the opening function of the partners approval workshop on the national word related principles (NOS) for the building exchanges Nigeria, in Abuja, the lasting secretary (works and lodging) federal service of power, Engr. Abubakar A. Magaji noted that the circumstance has led to substandard work yield, extreme work costs and the inundation of foreign artisans and experts into the country.

Represented by the chief, building and quantity looking over division in the service, Bldr Mrs Salma Yusuf Mohammed, the changeless secretary clarified that the improvement of the national Occupational Standards for the building exchange would therefore affect emphatically in the Nigerian economy by promoting institutionalization, specialization and professionalism in the development industry.

He expressed that the service in a joint effort with the National Board For Technical Education (NBTE) is right now building up a reminder on the improvement of a national aptitudes advancement policy.

Earlier the chairman, Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON), Bldr. Prof. Kabir Bala had focused on the need to soothe project sites of unskilled, wasteful and disappointed specialists occupied with building trades.

Bala noted that the expertise crevice in the development part coupled with low quality conveyance has turned into a trend in Nigeria development industry.
