A civil society organisation  under the auspices of Nigeria Civil Society Desk has adviced the All Progressives Congress (APC) to recognise Hon. Matthew Omegara as the real leader, champion and avant-garde of the party in Imo State.

The civil society organisation in a press release signed by Emeh Eleojo, national coordinator of the organisation explained that Omegara was the man who was the second highest donnor after the governor at fund raising to register APC by Imo leaders.

According to Eleojo,  Omegara played visible role in the declaration of 37 House of Representative members that jump started the popularity of APC in the country, that he was the one who could have become the speaker if not for high political blackmail by PDP men.

“Hon Mathew Omegara who at the time of the blackmail of APC as moslem party used his money to build a Catholic Cathedral valued at over half a billion naira and invited the then Speaker now Sokoto state Governor Waziri Tomball,  Sen. Ngige, Owelle Rochas and his wife and many dignitaries to the celebrated inauguration of the church by Catholic Bishop of Okigwe Rev. Dr Amatu.

“Omegara was the only National Assembly serving member who stayed put with APC in Imo. The party owe him special recognition and the Governor Owelle Rochas owe him more for his commitment and role during the last election. He is a man who believe in his conviction and can never be influenced With money.

“Everyone believed that Omegara should have been packaged for the NIMASA DG since Imo State is the only APC state in South East and we did not get first class Minister as expected. How the party eventually treats Hon. Omegara will tell a lot on the need for party loyalty, hard work,  sincerity of purpose and commitment to party ideology,” he stated.
