He said: “It’s [been] nine years and counting since I started recording, [I was] signed on, pushing the brand and the music, until we got to Five Star music and it worked, and it’s working.

“A lot of things have changed, the brand, the packaging, Mr. Songz is serious business [today], and the Five Star platform has taught me a lot when it comes to the music business. There’s a lot to push in the brand, push in the music and connecting with the fans also, and the money making part of the business…I give it to the platform, I give to the Five Star management and the whole team.”

On meeting with KCee and eventually getting signed to Five Star music, the Beta Pikin singer said everything dates back to seven years ago when he used to perform with his band at the Ojez Nite club, Surulere and KCee used to come watch him play as well as support him in cash and kind.

KCee was still part of the group KC Presh back then.

On the inspiration behind the hit song Reggae Blues, he explained that he got the idea from people’s day to day experiences.

He said: “Reggae Blues was inspired by people’s stories, people complaining about their relationships, people complaining about their [friends], this one is not treating me right, this one is cheating, this one is not happy.

“So, I just wanted a happy song to encode everything and I came up with that piece. It’s just one of those songs. Reggae Blues affected everyone on the platform, it changed the sound also, you know people trying to revolve on that sound, of course it opened a lot of doors, [I mean] meeting people all around Africa and the world, travelling and seeing how people accept that sound.”

He added that the song also helped step up the brand Harry Song.

The entertainer also spoke about his soon-to-be-released album titled Spontaneous which he said will feature a number of A-list artistes such as MI Abaga, Seyi Shay, Yemi Alade and KCee to name a few.
