The chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Kogi State chapter, Taofik Isa has condemned those accusing the state government of procuring and distributing Ford Jeeps and Hilux Vans to the administrators and secretaries of the local government councils in the state with workers salaries.

The chairman also noted that those who went to town with the falsehood never cared to find out the true information about the purchase, saying that the vehicles were rather collected and guaranteed on loan from the company by the government.

Taofik in a statement by his special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Abubakar Sule Hussain, said the allegations are baseless and a deliberate attempt by the enemies of the state to turn the people’s attention from the good work embarked upon by the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.

He also berated those behind the accusation and accused them of trying to pull down the efforts of the government in providing easy vehicular movement for the newly appointed administrators and their members.

“It is a known fact that the governor in his magnanimity and kind gesture, asked the immediate past local government chairmen to go with their official vehicles (Jeeps) considering their mobility problems and with the monitisation policy of the federal government.

“Instead of the critics to applaud the governor for the kind gesture to the former chairmen, they are busy blackmailing him. See the good work going on on our roads, especially the construction of Lokoja township roads.
