The invitation of Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice by Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters has been deferred from Thursday, 23rd June, 2016 to 30th at the instance of the latter’s request.

A letter dated 27th June, 2016 which was signed by the Committee Chairman on Judiciary, Senator David Umaru, said the meeting has been rescheduled to hold on 30th June, 2016.

Part of the letter reads: “The meeting is now scheduled to hold on Thursday 30th June, 2016 at Senate Committee Room 313, Senate Building, Abuja.”

With the rescheduled meeting, the stage is now set for the Committee to engage the Attorney-General of the Federation for allegedly interloping into the crises on the forged Senate Standing Rules, which the Senators claimed was an internal affair.

Earlier, the Attorney-General of the Federation had called for prosecution of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, immediate past Clerk to the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Maikasuwa and acting Clerk to the Senate, Mr. Ben Efeturi for forging Senate Standing Rules which was used to elect Saraki’s team into office.

On the order of the Attorney-General for the Federation, Saraki and three others appeared yesterday (Monday) before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory to answer Criminal charges preferred against them. They were consequently granted bail.
