Game against Wikki Tourists was tough – Rangers

Rangers International FC of Enugu Coach Imama Amapakabo said on Tuesday that the club’s week 24 match against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi could have gone either way.

Rangers picked a draw from the encounter to maintain their second place on the league table with 40 points from 24 matches.

Amapakabo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu that the match was tough with both teams playing cautiously, knowing what was at stake.

“It was one of those games we knew we needed to get points because they are ahead of us in the league. We needed to slow them down.

“We also knew that they are a ball playing team, if we want to get points there, we need to keep the ball at play and we did that.”

Amapakabo described the match as exciting for both sides as they kept it flowing without long balls.

“The two teams created several scoring chances and it could have gone either way.

“We were cautious in our game and we made sure we did not come home empty-handed,” he said.

The coach said that Rangers aspiration on the league was on course as they would not underrate any team.
